Punjab Kings' (PBKS) batter Jitesh Sharma bagged a massive achievement in the ongoing match against Mumbai Indians (MI) as he broke past the 2000-run mark in T20 cricket.
Heading into the clash, Jitesh needed 23 runs to secure the landmark figure and with a single in the fifth ball of the 14th over, he put the milestone in his kitty.
The 29-year-old has been going all guns blazing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, scoring valuable runs at a brisk pace, coming down the order. In the ongoing season, Jitesh has scored 239 runs in 10 innings at an average and strike rate of 26.56 and 165.97, respectively.
Jitesh's T20 debut came in 2014 while featuring for Vidarbha in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy game versus Uttar Pradesh.
Although Mumbai Indians were the first to invest in him, he shot to fame in IPL 2022, which was also his debut season. Playing 12 matches for the Kings last year, Jitesh scored 234 runs at a strike rate of 163.64.
He also got an India call-up recently for the T20I series against Sri Lanka; however, he did not appear in any of the games.
Meanwhile, Punjab have finished at 214/3, with Jitesh scoring an unbeaten 49-run knock.
