Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir these two names are everywhere in the social media now after a big fight between two Indian stalwarts post the LSG-RCB game. It was surely one of the most ugliest fight we have seen in the IPL but the tussle between the two goes a decade back.
The IPL 2013 was the first time we saw an altercation between the two in the KKR-RCB game when Gambhir was the captain of KKR. Post that there has been a lot of hype in media and in cricketing circles about an indifferent relation between the two and we saw the culmination of all that after 10 long years in the LSG-RCB game.
However, there was a time when the two shared a special bond. Gambhir and Kohli both are from Delhi and there was a good relation between the two. Now, an old video is going viral on social media where Gambhir is seen giving his 'Player of the Match' award to Virat Kohli. It was the 2009 India-Sri Lanka ODI and both Gambhir and Kohli scored century in that game. Gambhir though was awarded the player of the match award officially as he scored 150 not out and Kohli scored 107 runs.
In a heart-warming gesture, Gambhir gave his award away to Kohli as it was the first international century of Virat Kohli. Gambhir,an accomplished player at that point in time knew that it was a special one for young Kohli and he wanted to make it even more memorable for the young man. It is hard to digest how things have fallen away so badly after seeing this beautiful gesture from Gautam Gambhir and the bond between the two.
