In a significant development, Royal Challengers Bangalore have shocked fans and experts, roping in veteran Indian batter Kedar Jadhav as a replacement for David Willey. Notably, Jadhav played his final IPL game back in 2021 and went unsold in the mega as well as mini auction.

It has been revealed that Willey has fractured his toe and will miss out on the remainder of the tournament.

So as it seems, RCB have decided to strengthen their batting unit, adding an experienced campaigner in Jadhav to their squad in place of Willey, who was irregular in the playing XI.

Despite being an impactful batting all-rounder for India, Jadhav has been an under-performer in the Indian Premier League, managing 1196 runs at a modest average of 22.15 and a strike rate of 123.17.

However, he had his best time with the bat when he was associated with RCB, garnering 309 runs for the franchise at an impressive strike rate of 141.74.

Meanwhile, speaking of Willey, despite being economical, the left-arm seamer could scalp only three wickets at an ordinary average of 35 in four outings in the IPL 2023. As a result, the Englishman was eventually replaced by experienced South African pacer Wayne Parnell.

Led by Faf du Plessis, RCB are placed sixth in the IPL 2023 points table and will take on Lucknow Super Giants in their ninth group-stage game tonight.
