Continuing his sublime form in the IPL 2023, Mumbai Indians' lead spinner Piyush Chawla put up another clinical performance in his side's ongoing group-stage fixture against Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai. After removing the dangerous Jos Buttler, Chawla outfoxed Devdutt Padikkal with a magnificent googly, shattering the young batter's off stump.
The incident occurred in the 11th over of the Royals innings, when Padikkal was batting alongside a well-set Yashasvi Jaiswal. Chawla started the over on a distasteful note, conceding a boundary to Jaiswal in the second delivery.
However, after Jaiswal gave strike to Padikkal, the veteran tweaker weaved his magic to deceive the Karnataka batter with an exceptional googly, that uprooted the batter's off-stump.
Following the dismissal, Chawla celebrated jubilantly, while Padikkal made his way back to the dugout with disappointment written all over his face.
Chawla has enjoyed stellar success in the IPL 2023, scalping 13 wickets so far in eight matches. After being dormant for several years, the veteran tweaker has definitely rejuvenated his IPL career, emerging as MI's go-to man in the middle overs.
Regarding the game, the Royals are all set to post a competitive total, courtesy of a breathtaking half-century from their in-form opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. As of writing, the visitors are 126 for three in 13 overs, with Jaiswal and Jason Holder batting on 72* and 3*, respectively.
