In a remarkable turn of events, ace Chennai Super Kings batter Devon Conway has completed 5000 runs in T20 cricket. The stylish southpaw from New Zealand achieved this phenomenal batting feat during CSK's ongoing IPL 2023 game against Punjab Kings.

Conway was stranded on 4971 T20 runs before this game. So as soon as he scored his 29th run, the 31-year-old became the seventh Kiwi batter after Brendon McCullum, Colin Munro, Martin Guptill, Kane Williamson, Glenn Phillips and Ross Taylor to amass 5000 runs in T20s.

Most runs in T20s by NZ Players

  • Brendon McCullum: 9922 runs in 364 innings
  • Colin Munro: 9493 runs in 357 innings
  • Martin Guptill: 9044 runs in 314 innings
  • Ross Taylor: 6559 runs in 281 innings
  • Kane Williamson: 6304 runs in 246 innings
  • Glenn Phillips: 5409 runs in 190 innings
  • Devon Conway: 5023* runs in 144 innings

Conway exhibited his incredible consistency in the ongoing game against Punjab Kings, amassing another fifty and ensuring a solid start for his side. Alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad, the dynamic left-hander added 86 runs for the first wicket.

However, after Gaikwad got out, Conway and Dube have formed a consolidating 39*-run stand. As of writing, the hosts are 125 for 1, with Conway and Dube batting on 57* and 26*, respectively.
