KKR vs GT: Vijay Shankar & David Miller Stand Tall as GT Avenge KKR

Riding on Mohammed Shami's three-fer and Vijay Shankar's belligerent fifty, Gujarat Titans swatted aside Kolkata Knight Riders by seven wickets in the 39th group-stage fixture of the ongoing Indian Premier League season. 


Rahmanullah Gurbaz's fireworks power KKR to a respectable total

After being put into bat, Kolkata Knight Riders had a decent start, courtesy of a quick-fire 19-run cameo from Narayan Jagadeesan, who was trapped plumb in front of the stumps by Mohammed Shami in the third over. However, after his departure, keeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz shifted gears, shell-shocking the GT bowlers with his flamboyant stroke play. 

Despite running out of partners, Gurbaz held the fort at one end, setting the tone for a respectable total for his side, slamming 81 runs off just 39 balls. However, it was Andre Russell who finished it on a high note for KKR, smashing three humongous sixes for an aggressive 19-ball 34. 

Mohammed Shami emerged as the wrecker-in-chief with the ball for GT, scalping three wickets for 33 runs. Among others, Joshua Little and Noor Ahmad claimed two wickets each, with Rashid Khan conceding 54 runs in his four-over spell. 


Gill shines bright before Shankar-Miller stand seizes the day for GT

In response, Gujarat Titans got a brisk start, as Shubman Gill came out with all guns blazing. After his partner Wriddhiman Saha departed, Gill added crucial 50 runs with skipper Hardik Pandya. 

Pandya played a well-composed knock of 26 runs, Gill struck eight gorgeous boundaries for a classy 35-ball 49. 

However, the game swung slightly in KKR's favour, with both the set batters getting out in quick succession. 

But Vijay Shankar and David Miller held their nerves and stepped up to guide the Titans to a thumping victory from a precarious position. 

Shankar hammered 51* runs off 24 deliveries, while Miller amassed 32* impactful runs for his side.
