The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season did not ideally start for the Delhi Capitals (DC), who lost their regular skipper Rishabh Pant for the entirety of the tournament due to an injury. Under new captain David Warner, Delhi have managed just two wins from seven games, where the batting has been under fire in most of their matches.

The likes of Prithvi Shaw, Sarfaraz Khan, Rilee Rossouw, Mustafizur Rahman, and Mitchell Marsh have struggled to be consistent, which has added pressure on other inexperienced players. Only Warner, who has 306 runs, and Anrich Nortje, who has six wickets, have been the stand-out performers.

Ahead of their match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad tonight in Delhi, coach Ricky Ponting has issued a warning to non-performing members of the squad to stand up and make their presence felt mainly the foreign recruits.

As per News18, the former Australian captain admitted that DC has not fixed their overseas combination, which has led to problems.

Here's what Ponting said

“I’m not talking about one or two players, I’m talking about from one to seven or eight being able to contribute right down the list. When it’s their turn, they need to stand up and get the job done for the team and we haven’t been able to do that so far.

But as I keep saying to the boys, if we keep working hard, this game can change really quickly and keep putting in the work, the luck will change and all of a sudden these guys that you’re talking about will be scoring big runs for us,"

Delhi has been having trouble off the field as well with their luggage being stolen earlier,  and a player allegedly being reported for harassing a woman in a party after their win over SRH last week.
