It was a decent start for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali that soon turned into a masterclass from Kyle Mayers, Ayush Badoni, Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran taking their side to a record-breaking total of 257, which is also the second-highest total in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history.

Moreover, this was also the second time that the 250-run mark was breached with the first one being done by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) back in 2013. Back then, it was Pune Warriors who were on the receiving end as their bowlers were blown away by Chris Gayle who banged unbelievable 175 not out.

Lucknow ended their innings on the score of 257, with major contribution coming from Stoinis who smashed 72 from just 40 balls with five sixes to his name.

Mayers thumped 54 with 40+ scores each from Badoni and Pooran who kept on taking their chances.

Meanwhile, had to face the wrath with debutant Gurnoor Brar going for 42 in three overs, Arshdeep Singh for 54 in his four and Kagiso Rabada for 52 in his full quota.

Earlier, Punjab skipper Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and went with the decision of fielding first.
