Delhi Capitals shrugged off their disastrous IPL 2023 beginnings with two hard fought wins against KKR and SRH respectively. However, their five defeats upfront continues to haunt them at the bottom of the points table, as they seek to climb up the ladder in the second half of the tournament.

The Capitals will now once against face the SRH, this time in a home fixture on April 29 evening. Another win against the ‘Orange Army’ will elevate them a few spots up the table, depending upon the margin of victory.

Ahead of the much-awaited contest, here at OneCricket we predict Delhi Capitals strongest starting XI, along with five impact players.

Openers: David Warner and Philip Salt

Philip Salt opened the innings in Capitals’ previous fixture in place of struggling Prithvi Shaw. While the Englishman was dismissed for a first-ball duck in his maiden opening gig of the season, the cricketer will likely get another opportunity up the order against the SRH.

David Warner, meanwhile, has managed to overcome his strike-rate troubles in the past few innings. The dynamic Australian opener charted a 41-ball 57 against KKR last week, to headline a four-wicket win for his side.

Middle Order: Mitchell Marsh, Sarfaraz Khan, Manish Pandey, Aman Hakim Khan and Axar Patel

Manish Pandey is fresh from unleashing four notable knocks in his last four outings for the Capitals. With a season best of 50, the senior Indian batter will be keen to drop an even bigger score in the upcoming games.

While Mitchell Marsh and Aman Hakim Khan’s batting form continues to remain a worrying factor, the two all-rounders provide an additional bowling option for their captain. Marsh’s mere presence in the batting order also adds a legion of versatile T20 experience to the team, and his big-hitting prowess certainly justifies his selection in the XI.

Axar Patel, on the other hand, has been at his imperial best this season. So far, he has scored 182 runs with the bat and claimed six wickets with the ball to cap a remarkable first half of the tournament for his side. He even delivered a match-winning all-round performance against KKR and SRH in successive games.

Bowlers: Anrich Nortje, Kuldeep Yadav, Ishant Sharma and Mukesh Kumar

Anrich Nortje and Ishant Sharma will likely command Delhi Capitals’ pace attack against the SRH, considering the two speed guns strangled their scoring rate in the previous game.

Mukesh Kumar, who went wicketless in his first two matches of the season, found some rhythm thereafter.

Kuldeep Yadav will once again helm the spin department of his side, a role he has successfully shared with Axar Patel this season.

Predicted Playing XI of Delhi Capitals:

David Warner (c), Philip Salt, Mitchell Marsh, Sarfaraz Khan, Manish Pandey, Aman Hakim Khan, Axar Patel, Anrich Nortje, Kuldeep Yadav, Ishant Sharma and Mukesh Kumar.
