It was a massive moment for Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni when he returned to the place he dearly loves as he smashed his highest score in one-day cricket at this venue. We're talking about the Sawai Mansingh Stadium (SMS) in Jaipur where Dhoni struck a mind-blowing 183* against Sri Lanka back in 2005.

However, fast-forward to 2023, MS came to play at SMS against Rajasthan Royals (RR) and felt the nostalgia straightway which reflected in his post-match interview after CSK lost the game by massive margin of 32 runs.

Batting first, Royals posted 202 on the board which was above par also mentioned by the veteran captain and in return, Super Kings could only manage 170 as spinners bowled excellently to make it difficult for visitors.

'Thala' as he is fondly known, reflected on the loss and said that they leaked way too much runs in the powerplay itself and after that it became a little difficult for them to make a comeback.

"I think it was quite above the par score. The reason was the first six overs. We gave too many runs in the powerplay and the wicket was good. There were many edges that went to the boundary and that had a big impact on the score. Also, we didn’t get a good start with the bat,"

Moreover, he spoke about the venue and what memories he has had here, mentioning that his 183 at this venue extended his career by an year which is why it is very close to him.

"I think the fans will be chasing me throughout. It’s a very good venue. My first hundred was at Vizag which gave me 10 more games but the 183 I made here gave me an extra year. It is very close to my heart and always feels good to get back here."

Recovering from this loss, CSK will next fight against Punjab Kings on 30th April at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
