The 'chasemaster' is back amongst runs and this time he is on a mision to achieve the impossible.
Chasing a tricky 201, RCB have lost Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell, but Virat Kohli is on the vengeance and has notched up his fifth fifty of the IPL 2023. In a typical Kohli innings, he started on an aggressive note and took a special liking towards the KKR pacers.
He smacked a sumptuous boundary over the covers off Umesh Yadav and announced his intention in some style.
Kohli’s game against spin has been questioned in this IPL, but he took the aggressive path against Suyash Sharma and struck a couple of boundaries to ease up the pressure.
At one stage, he was 30 off 15, but the introduction of Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy slowed things down a bit. Wickets kept falling at the other end, but Kohli stood up at the other end and found an able partner in Mahipal Lomror.
With the required rate creeping up, Lomror struck a couple of glorious sixes to ease the pressure on Kohli, who reached his 49th fifty of IPL, and fifth of the season.
However, just when Kohli was ready to launch on the KKR bowlers, Andre Russell got his prized wicket for 54.
