Experienced Indian keeper-batter Rishabh Pant is set to miss out on plenty of action in future, as he is yet to recover from multiple injuries sustained due to a life-threatening car accident on new year's Eve. In such a scenario, India are searching for a suitable candidate to replace Pant in their star-studded national squad.

Meanwhile, legendary English batter Kevin Pietersen has attempted to solve India's dilemma, naming dynamic finisher Jitesh Sharma as a potential candidate to replace Pant in the national setup for the time being.

In his column for Betway, the dashing right-handed batter hailed Sharma for his incredible finishing prowess.

Here's what Pietersen wrote

"India have their Rishabh Pant replacement. Jitesh Sharma, the wicket-keeper from Punjab Kings, is also something special. I think he could be the guy who takes over from Rishabh Pant for India, if Pant is out for a while longer. His 25 off seven balls, including four sixes, against Mumbai on Saturday was match-winning."

Speaking of Jitesh Sharma, the keeper-batter from Vidarbha has been a brute force with the bat, ensuring a fitting finish for Punjab Kings in the IPL.

After enjoying prolific success last season, the dynamic right-hander has blown hot and cold this year, garnering 145 runs at a modest average of 20.71 and a healthy strike rate of 149.48. However, despite being picked in the squad earlier, he is yet to make his international debut.

With four victories in seven outings, Punjab Kings are placed sixth in the IPL 2023 points table and will take on Lucknow Super Giants in the 38th game of the tournament on the 28th of this month.
