In a nerve-wracking encounter, the Delhi Capitals (DC) defended a sub-par total of 144 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), who won their second match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 by seven runs.

Led by David Warner, who made his return to Hyderabad after 2019, and opted to bat first, a decision that eventually proved to be correct. Kuldeep Yadav, who claimed one wicket, lauded Warner for his leadership skills, where the Australian believed in his bowlers to defend.

Mukesh Kumar defended 13 runs in the final over to help his side to victory. Kumar was battered for runs against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in his last outing.

As quoted by India Today, speaking at the post-match conference, Yadav said Warner gave his bowlers freedom despite a low total.

Here's what Yadav said

“He has played here for seven years. He knows the conditions well and that’s why he opted to bat first. Wicket was slow and he thought it probably is difficult to chase. As a bowling unit, he believed in us. He gave freedom to each and everyone,”

The left-arm spinner further admitted that the Delhi side will needs to work on their batting going forward while praising Kumar.

“He bowled well in the last game as well. He is playing his first IPL, he is improving day by day. Bowling in the death overs are never easy,”

Both teams face each other on Saturday, when the Aiden Markram-led side travels to New Delhi.
