In a significant development, Delhi Capitals captain David Warner has won the toss and elected to bat first against Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, swashbuckling opener Prithvi Shaw won't come out to open alongside Warner, as he has been dropped from the playing XI.

Shaw has had an extremely torrid time with the bat this season, managing only 47 runs in six outings at a horrendous average of 7.83. All-rounder Ripal Patel and middle-order batter Sarfaraz Khan have been added to the playing XI.

At the toss, Warner emphasised capitalising on Hyderabad’s batting-friendly surface, as he looked determined to ensure a brisk start for the Capitals alongside his opening partner Phil Salt in the power play. Continuing, the dynamic southpaw also expressed his gratitude for the Hyderabad crowd for supporting him through thick and thin.

Meanwhile, SRH skipper Aiden Markram revealed that their original plan was to bowl first, so they would happily take the outcome of the toss. He also expected the surface to get better for batting with time, announcing young all-rounder Nithish Reddy as their latest addition to the squad.

Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals have been abysmal in the IPL 2023, languishing at the ninth and tenth position, respectively, in the points table. So, as both teams will give their all to secure a victory, we expect a cracking contest between them tonight.
