Ajinkya Rahane unleashed another blinder, this time against the KKR, to overextend his second coming to IPL. In match number 33 of the 2023 season, the cricketer unfurled the innings of the match with his explosive 29-ball 71*.

Rahane’s innings was laced with six boundaries and five sixes, and his effort engineered the Chennai Super Kings to a table-topping 49-run win over KKR.

Ajinkya Rahane credits MS Dhoni for newfound success

Ajinkya Rahane, who holds a career T20 strike-rate of 121, has been striking at 199.05 for the CSK this season. As evidenced by his recent performances, the cricketer seems to have changed his entire batting narrative for the MS Dhoni-led side, considering the fact that he sustained three listless seasons with the bat prior to the ongoing one.

Rahane’s recent blitz against the KKR earned him a ‘Player of the Match’ award. During the presentation ceremony, he revealed details behind the success to his newfound batting approach, and credited CSK skipper MS Dhoni for his guidance.

The senior batter also revealed that he feels his best is yet to come. He said:

“Just a clear mindset and nothing else. If that's right, you can do anything and so just wanted to keep my mind clear. The prep before the season was very good. Ball was stopping and the pitch was a little sticky, but the outfield was fast and one side was small.

“I enjoyed all the knocks this season and I feel my best is yet to come. Great learning to play under MS. Played under him at India and playing under him at CSK for the first time. Whatever he says, you listen.”

Ajinkya Rahane will now turn up for the CSK in their subsequent fixture, i.e., their upcoming return clash against the Rajasthan Royals. The Royals prevailed in their previous meeting, and will now hold home advantage in their April 27 match-up.
