Punjab Kings' (PBKS) fielding coach Trevor Gonsalves dropped an update on Shikhar Dhawan's fitness, which indicates a major possibility of his absence in the upcoming match versus Mumbai Indians (MI) as well.

The PBKS skipper sustained a shoulder niggle in the fixture against Gujarat Titans and since then has missed two games for his team.

Gonsalves informed that it will still take a few days for the 37-year-old to recover. This means that he is in the race against time to feature in the clash against MI and it is more likely that he will be unavailable.

"It should take around two to three days more," Gonsalves said.

Though Punjab sans Dhawan and in the stand-in leadership of Sam Curran has won one out of two matches, their batting unit has failed as a whole.

Dhawan even after not featuring in the last few games for the Kings stands among the top-scorers in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 with 233 runs to his name.

After getting defeated by the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings lie at the seventh position on the points table with three wins and as many losses. They will next play an away tie against Mumbai on April 22.
