In major updates, Punjab Kings' captain Shikhar Dhawan is still injured and will miss the much-anticipated clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Mohali on Thursday. Sam Curran will captain his second game in the Indian Premier League.

Another breaking from Mohali is Bangalore's destiny child Virat Kohli will captain the Team in Red and Gold. Apart from that, England's big-hitting all-rounder Liam Livingstone will play his first IPL 2023, after missing the first 5 matches.

Kohli wearing the captain’s hat after almost one and a half years are shivers for the RCB fans. RCB’s regular skipper Faf du Plessis, will play as an Impact Player, batting for the visitors in the first innings before getting replaced by Vijaykumar Vyshak.

For Punjab, Kagiso Rabada will be replaced by in-form Nathan Ellis. Meanwhile, Harpreet Singh Bhatia and Atharva Taide have gotten an extra day to tell their tales.

RCB, on the flip side, have chosen Suyash Prabhudessai in the Playing party over Vijaykumar.

At the toss, Curran called it correctly for the home team and asked Virat Kohli's lineup to bat first at Mohali.
