T20 Leagues can become breeding grounds for corruption, with bookies finding easy targets. Betting has always been a nuisance to cricket, but lately, authorities have managed to keep the malpractice away. However, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) pacer Mohammed Siraj has reported to the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) about being approached by an unknown man.

As per PTI, Siraj received a call about wanting 'inside information' on RCB and instantly contacted the ACU unit about this incident sometime in March during India and Australia's ODI series.

The report stated that a driver from Hyderabad called Siraj after losing money in betting.

A source in the BCCI confirmed that the concerned authorities have apprehended the person, and further details are awaited.

Here's what BCCI source said

"It wasn't a bookie who approached Siraj. It is a driver from Hyderabad who is addicted to betting on matches. He had lost huge money and approached Siraj for inside information. Siraj reported the approach immediately. The law enforcement authorities have nabbed the man. More details are being awaited."

Every franchise has an ACU official staying with them at the team hotel and monitoring all happenings. Pre-season ACU workshops are conducted by BCCI where players are told about Dos and Don'ts.

Siraj has been in rich form this IPL, having picked eight wickets for RCB in five matches.  Meanwhile, RCB occupies eighth place in the IPL 2023 points table with two wins and three losses.
