Devon Conway has been a revelation for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ever-since he joined the franchise last IPL. Making the opening spot his own, Conway continued his rich vein of form and notched up a scintillating half-century against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Monday.
Conway alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad have given solid starts to CSK, but with Ruturaj heading back to the pavilion for a mere 3, the onus was on Conway to become the chief aggressor, and he found an able partner in Ajinkya Rahane.
There is always a pressure batting first at Chinnaswamy, but the duo of Rahane and Conway eased it up with a couple of boundaries early on. Initially Conway allowed Rahane to take the charge, but once settled in, he too, joined the party and took the attack to the RCB bowlers.
Faf du Plessis introduced the off-break bowling of Maxwell to counter Conway, but that had no effect as he took him to the cleaners as well.
The Southpaw reached his fifty in 32-deliveries as CSK mount towards a mammoth total.
At the time of writing, CSK are 97 for 2 in 10 overs.
