Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya listed a rapid 28 before claiming a wicket against Rajasthan Royals in match number 23 of the IPL 2023 season. Despite his all-round heroics, his team went down to an insurgent Royals in the final over, courtesy of Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer’s sparkling half-centuries in the run-chase.

Defeat aside, Pandya has now managed to join a rare all-rounders club in IPL history, as the cricketer claimed a huge milestone in the contest.

Hardik Pandya completes 2,000 runs after reaching 50 wickets

Hardik Pandya, who made his IPL debut for the Mumbai Indians in 2015, has now completed 2,000 runs in the tournament. The all-rounder clubbed a 19-ball 28 against Rajasthan Royals to cross the 2,000-run mark, and he now sits at 2,012 runs at an average of 29.16. Pandya achieved the feat in his 111th IPL game, with eight half-centuries to his name.

Notably, the Gujarat Titans skipper also has 51 IPL wickets in his all-round tally. He dismissed Royals’ opener Yashasvi Jaiswal in his recent outing to stretch his collection to 51, thus becoming only the second Indian cricketer to complete the all-round IPL double of over 50 wickets and 2,000 runs.

The first Indian to scale the landmark was Chennai Super Kings’ veteran Ravindra Jadeja, who has 2,531 runs and 138 wickets in his credit.

Meanwhile, Jadeja remains the only Indian in the IPL to collect over 100 wickets along with scoring 2,000 runs in the tournament.
