Mumbai Indians (MI) were off to a torrid start in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 as they lost their first two games. However, Rohit Sharma and Co. finally ended up on the positive side of the result in the match versus Delhi Capitals

While Mumbai's bowlers did a fairly decent job in restricting Delhi to 172, skipper Rohit accompanied by Tilak Varma led them with the bat in a six-wicket victory.

Mumbai Indians' upcoming match comes against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The two teams bump heads on April 16 at Wankhede Stadium.

Let us try to predict the XI that can take the field for MI tomorrow.

Openers: Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan

Although the MI openers Rohit and Ishan Kishan had gone through a lot of scrutiny in the tournament already, they found their touch versus the Capitals. The duo stood together for 71 runs and Rohit even scored a match-winning fifty.

Middle-order: Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Nehal Wadhera and Tim David*

Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav are running through two different phases. While Tilak can do no wrong, Suryakumar has been bitten by the 'bad form' bug. Although most of us are aware about the latter's pedigree and in no time, he can switch on the 360-degree mode.

Nehal Wadhera gave a glimpse of his talent when Mumbai Indians faced RCB. He scored a 13-ball 21 but was dropped in the prior match. He came back in the XI for the encounter against the Capitals, however, did not get a chance to bat.

Talking about Tim David, he was used as an Impact Player in MI's previous fixture. If Mumbai bat second, the same will be the case.

All-rounders: Cameron Green and Hrithik Shokeen

Despite not contributing well enough with the ball, Cameron Green's useful eight-ball 17 proved to be crucial in MI's first win of the season.

Hrithik Shokeen has not been able to leave a mark in the tournament. But looking at the way Mumbai Indians operate, they are likely to back him. In another scenario, Kumar Kartikeya can replace him.

Bowlers: Jason Behrendorff, Arshad Khan, Piyush Chawla and Riley Meredith*

Jason Behrendorff, Riley Meredith and Piyush Chawla put a great effort on display as their combined eight wicket-haul was the main factor behind Delhi Capitals getting all-out for 172.

However, Arshad Khan has not been at his best in his debut IPL season. Although Mumbai will most probably give him a longer rope, someone like Arjun Tendulkar or Sandeep Warrier can be tried in his place.

If Mumbai bat first, Riley Meredith can be the Impact Player and he might replace David.

Impact Players

  • Kumar Kartikeya
  • Arjun Tendulkar
  • Ramandeep Singh
  • Tristan Stubbs
  • Tim David/Riley Meredith
