The first of the five-match T20 international series will be taking place between the home side Pakistan and New Zealand on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The exciting clash is scheduled to begin at 9.30 PM IST and 9.00 PM local time.

After drawing the Test series 0-0 (2) and winning the three-match one-day international series 2-1 back in December-January, the Kiwis are back again in Pakistan to contest a full-fledged white-ball series. After completing the T20Is, the New Zealanders will play a five-match ODI series against the Men in Green. Their tour ends on May 07 with the fifth and final game at National Stadium in Karachi. The hosts selected a full-strength squad for both series, while the visitors need more star players.

PAK vs NZ, 1st T20I: Top Five Picks

  1. Babar Azam (PAK): Skipper Babar Azam is the leading run-getter for Pakistan in T20Is with 3355 runs in 94 innings at an average of 41.41 with two centuries and 30 half-centuries. Babar will be playing his landmark 100th T20 international match as he looks to make it big.
  2. Mohammad Rizwan (PAK): T20 is Mohammad Rizwan's cup of tea, as he is Pakistan's second-highest run-scorer after Babar in this format. The right-handed batter has racked up 2635 runs in 69 innings at a solid average of 48.79 with one century and 23 fifties. Picking Rizwan in a 20-over game is always a worthy pick.
  3. Shaheen Afridi (PAK): After giving a miss to the Afghanistan series, fresh Shaheen Afridi is back and raring to go. One of the world's premier and lethal fast bowlers right now, Shaheen has picked up 58 wickets in 47 games for his country at an average of 22.37 and with the best figures of 4/22.
  4. Daryl Mitchell (NZ): Right-handed batter Daryl Mitchell has been a rock for the Kiwis in the middle order for the past year and a half. In 2023, Mitchell scored 183 runs in 5 T20I innings at an average of 45.75 and with two fifties.
  5. Adam Milne (NZ): Speedster Adam Milne became the third Kiwi bowler to pick a five-wicket haul in this format when he grabbed the feat in the recently-concluded Sri Lanka series. He picked up seven scalps in 3 innings and could be a safe bet for the first match against Pakistan.
