CSK In Trouble? Thala Fails To Finish It Off Style!

In a crackerjack of a contest between Chennai and Rajasthan, the Chepauk crowd the vintage MS Dhoni finish as their beloved Thala pulled off an almost win from the jaws of a loss. MS Dhoni smashed a 17-ball 37*, which included a four and three sixes, but he failed to take Chennai Super Kings home as the visitors won it by the barest of margins.

The game was literally in Rajasthan Royals' bag, CSK needing 63 runs off the last five overs. Dhoni got united with Ravindra Jadeja and scripted an almost dreamy script for the Super Kings in front of their loyal Chennai crowd.

The Dhoni-Jadeja played the first couple of overs of their partnership cautiously, not taking any risk against Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal - who had two wickets apiece by then.

However, Thala - as they love to call him - then broke the water tank against Adam Zampa, smashing a boundary and a sixer against the Aussie tweaker.

Next up was Jason Holder, who got reprimanded by Jadeja with two maximums and a four.

Things went down to the wire, Chennai needing 21 off the last over. Sandeep Sharma - the bowler - started off with two wides before making a remarkable comeback with a dot delivery. But he was then muscled by MS for two consecutive biggies.

With 7 needed off the last three deliveries, the ball was in MS' court with the crowd chanting - 'Dhoni, Dhoni'! But the dream couldn't come true for the Super Kings and their loyal fans present in the stadium, as the bowler concluded the over with three singles, resulting in Dhoni not finishing it off last in style.

Had he done that, it would have been a fairytale for both Thala and all his admirers, as they would have seen an all-class act by the legend himself in his 200th IPL game as captain of his most beloved Chennai Super Kings.
