KL Rahul played one of the most bizarre knocks in the history of the IPL against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday.

On a belter of a track and chasing 213, KL Rahul scored a mere 18 off 20 deliveries and lookes scratchy throughout the innings.

At one stage, LSG were reduced to 23 for 3, and stared at the barrels of defeat as KL Rahul went in his shell. However, when he eventually decided to break the shackles, he got out. His sedate knock has been criticised by former cricketers, who have lashed out at the LSG skipper.

But KL Rahul has come up with a statement, and has backed the way he played against RCB.

"I want to score more runs and I think I score more runs, the strike rate goes up. We have played a couple of games in tough wickets in Lucknow.

Today we lost 3 wickets so I look at the situation and I felt like I did the right thing and if I could have carried on and stayed there till the end and stayed with Nicky, could've won the game a lot easier. Once I get some good knocks under my belt I'll start feeling good and that will go up," KL Rahul said at the post-match presentation.

It was the deadly duo of Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran that helped LSG cement their spot at the top of the table. Stoinis started the assault with a breath-taking knock of 65, and Pooran took them on the brink of a famous win with a stunning 19-ball 62.
