Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper, Faf du Plessis has been fined INR 12 lakh for slow over-rate in the game against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Monday.

Everything went wrong for RCB and Faf du Plessis last night. Despite scoring a mammoth 212, the team failed to defend the total and lost a last-ball thriller against the visiting LSG side.

"The Royal Challengers Bangalore have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match 15 against Lucknow Super Giants at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, on Monday," IPL released a statement.

"As it was the team's first offence of the season under IPL's Code of Conduct, relating to minimum over-rate offences, captain Faf du Plessis was fined INR 12 lakh," the statement added.

Apart from du Plessis, LSG's Avesh Khan has been reprimanded for breaching the code of conduct.

It was after the final ball of the match, when Avesh threw his helmet on the ground after completing the wining run.

“Lucknow Super Giants’ Avesh Khan has been reprimanded for breaching the Code of Conduct. Mr. Avesh admitted to level 1 offence 2.2 of IPL’s Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding," an IPL statement read.

With this win, LSG have regained the top spot at the points table, courtesy some sublime hitting from Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran.
