'Frustrating Myself Trying...,' Nicholas Pooran Speaks After His Blinder vs RCB

Nicholas Pooran unleashed a blinder against RCB to manufacture an improbable win for his side. Batting at number six for the Lucknow Super Giants, the batting barbarian faced just 19 balls to club a six-laden 62 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Pooran took off where Marcus Stoinis left in the run-chase, with the LSG still requiring another 114 runs from the remaining 56 deliveries of the game. Fittingly, he was adjudged as ‘Player of the Match’ for his efforts.

Pooran praises Stoinis & Rahul

The Super Giants, who were already at the top of the IPL 2023 points table, elevated themselves further with their third win of the season. After their thrilling one-wicket win against the RCB, Nicholas Pooran emphasised the importance of their latest success, in a game where they were chasing an uphill 213-run target set by the hosts.

Pooran also praised the partnership between captain KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis, where the latter did much of the scoring through his 30-ball 65.

“This is for my wife and newborn. We needed to win that game. That partnership between Stoiny (Marcus Stoinis) and KL (Rahul) were wonderful. Stoinis kept us in the game. I've been working really hard on my game. This is where I want to be. I spent the last couple of years frustrating myself trying to win games for my team. I'm in a really good space, I'm in a really good state of mind and I just want to enjoy cricket. Have fun, keep a smile and do what's needed for my team.”

Pooran is now expected to take field in LSG’s next game against his former team, Punjab Kings. The match will be played at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on April 15.
