Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Aiden Markram, who himself was dismissed for a golden duck, blamed his side's batters for not putting up a fighting total in the away clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Friday.

Battling LSG in the 10th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Markram, who played his first game as the captain of SRH today, opted to bat first. However, Hyderabad stalled in their act of setting even a par-target as the Lucknow spinners held Markram and Co. tight throughout the innings, restricting them to 121/8 in 20 overs.

Speaking at the post-match interview, the South African cited at the Sunrisers' horrible batting outing, however, praised his bowlers as he believes they did a good job in the second half of the game.

"Not enough runs, tried to get to 150-160 but lost too many wickets and didn’t get any momentum going. We realized it wasn’t going to be a great wicket to bat in terms of history, but we were happy to fight. They bowled brilliantly according to the conditions. Good effort from our bowlers, we didn’t give them enough runs to play with but they fought hard,"

Markram also seemed optimistic about the next game and said that conditions will be different there and the team has already played there. He said that Punjab Kings are flying high but it is a good chance to beat them.

"(On the next home game) Different conditions once again, the team has played there already. The Punjab Kings are flying high but Sunday is a chance to pinch them."

Lucknow had no trouble at all while chasing 122 runs and completed the target in 16 overs with five wickets to spare.

Yet to record their first win in the season, Sunrisers Hyderabad will head to their home ground as they collide with Punjab Kings on April 9.
