A modern-day great, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson is currently nursing a knee injury that the star-batter suffered during Gujarat Titans' opening Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Williamson will undergo surgery soon, which will most likely rule him out of New Zealand's ICC World Cup 2023 campaign in India later this year.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, ahead of his team's white-ball series against visiting New Zealand, has wished Williamson a speedy recovery over the social media platform Twitter.

New Zealand under stand-in skipper Tom Latham tours Pakistan for a five-match T20I and ODI series beginning April 14 in Lahore.

Here's what Azam tweeted

The Titans have already named Sri Lanka's T20I skipper Dasun Shanaka as Williamson's replacement for the remainder of the IPL 2023.

Earlier, Azam before Asia Cup 2022, wished former Indian skipper Virat Kohli to stay strong during his lean patch, which garnered a lot of praise from fans and alike.

Azam will lead a strong 15-man T20I squad against New Zealand, which sees the return of players like Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammed Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, all of whom were rested for their 20-overs three-match series against Afghanistan.
