Cheteshwar Pujara to Lead Sussex in 2023 County Championship Season

Batting barnacle, Cheteshwar Pujara has been appointed as Sussex skipper for the upcoming 2023 County Championship. His first assignment as captain includes their season’s opening fixture against Durham, set to be played between April 6 and 9 in their home den at County Ground.

After the announcement was made by the Sussex Cricket Club, the Indian batting legend expressed his excitement by stating that he is looking forward to leading his side at the championship.

Pujara gets Sussex captaincy gig in his second year with club

Cheteshwar Pujara joined the Sussex Cricket Club during the 2022 County Championship in England. The batting veteran finished his maiden season for the club with the highest average among all batters of the tournament, plundering 1,094 runs across just eight matches at a rate of 109.40.

Pujara recently stated that he is looking forward to leading his side this time around. He stated that it was an easy choice for him to accept when he was offered the job of captaining the team because he was part of the group last year.

He praised the team’s composition and the support staff, and emphasised the importance of nurturing the younger talents of the squad.
