Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) captain, MS Dhoni, rolled back the years and displayed a glimpse of his vintage destructive self during his team's 12-run victory against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2023 match on Monday, April 3.

Former Indian opener, Aakash Chopra, commented on Dhoni's impressive batting performance in his YouTube video, where the former Indian skipper hit two consecutive sixes against one of the world's fastest bowlers, Mark Wood.

Chopra, in his video, exclaimed that it was a sweet homecoming for the CSK skipper, as the team had returned to Chennai after 1426 days. He added that Dhoni scored 12 runs in the match, and the victory margin for Chennai was also 12 runs. The renowned cricketing expert stated that the love story between Chennai and Dhoni is written in heaven, and he couldn't decide if he was seeing the Dhoni of 2011 or 2023.

“This love story is written in heaven. I am thinking whether I am seeing the MS Dhoni of 2011 or 2023," said Chopra.

The former cricketer further stated that Dhoni was facing probably the fastest bowler in world cricket at the moment, and he hit a cut shot that went for a six over the third man. The legendary batter's second six was an even tougher shot to play, according to Chopra.

“They were two unbelievable shots. He rewound the clock and how. Just think about it that you come to play your first match here after 1426 days and you hit two sixes in the three balls you face from the world's fastest bowler," concluded the former Indian cricketer.

The 41-year-old attempted to hit another maximum off the third ball he faced, but he was caught by Ravi Bishnoi at deep point. Nevertheless, he had done enough to warm the hearts of his fans with his impressive batting display.

CSK will now take on their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians in Match 12 of IPL 2023 on Saturday, April 8 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
