On Monday, MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings opened their account in the IPL 2023 points table, defeating Lucknow Super Giants by a close 12-run margin. Promising Indian opener Ruturaj Gaikwad played a crucial role in CSK's commanding victory, amassing 57 runs off just 31 deliveries.

Following CSK's narrow win, legendary Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag applauded Gaikwad for his sensational knock. Sehwag, known for his aggressive batting, reckoned that the Maharashtra batter relies on timing, the reason why his batting, like Virat Kohli's, is eye-pleasing.

Furthermore, the ex-player lauded the CSK opener for keeping the basics right and playing the ball right under his eyes, an attribute that places him among the bests.

Here's how Sehwag hailed Gaikwad

"I always say that your eyes get pleasure watching Virat Kohli's knocks and Ruturaj Gaikwad gave a similar pleasure. His playing style is dependent on timing. He hits sixes purely with timing. Flick, pull, cut - he plays shots everywhere. He plays very well in domestic cricket and he has come after putting in the hard yards,

"His basics of cricket are extremely solid. He waits for the ball and plays most of the balls under his eyes. If you see any big player, their shot selection is better because they play shots under the eyes and Ruturaj Gaikwad does the same."

Meanwhile, CSK, after securing their first win of the season, will take on the arch-rivals, Mumbai Indians, on Saturday.
