The MS Dhoni fandom was again proven when the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain came out to bat as the viewership of the host broadcasters spiked twice the fold. During the clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), the legendary cricketer batted in the last over of the innings; 17 million people witnessed his exploits via the Jio Cinema application.

Dhoni faced just three deliveries, and he blasted sixers on two of them off Mark Wood before the speedster got the better of Thala on the third delivery.

The viewership of the match between Chennai and Lucknow was at 1 million when openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway were thumping the LSG bowlers; however, it spiked by 70% when Dhoni was batting.

Interestingly, the last time Dhoni batted - during his 7-ball 14* vs Gujarat - Jio Cinema's live viewership reached 16 million. Reportedly, the number was at least 25 million on live television, totalling 41 million users.

In the process of his blistering knock, the CSK skipper has also completed 5000 runs in the league, becoming the fifth Indian and eighth overall batter to do so.

Courtesy of Chennai's batters, the home team has put 217 runs on the board, which could be a mountain to climb for Lucknow.
