It is the battle between South India and North India as Chennai Super Kings go head-to-head with Lucknow Super Giants.

CSK vs LSG Toss

Both the teams had opposite starts to their IPL 2023 campaign. While the KL Rahul led LSG won their opening fixture against Delhi Capitals, the MSD led CSK lost against defending champions Gujarat Titans.

The M.A Chidambaram stadium in Chennai witnessed an IPL game after 1427 days and the fans were shouting at the top of their voices when MS Dhoni and KL Rahul came out for the toss. It was KL Rahul who won the coin flip and elected to field.

LSG have made one change in their squad, with Yash Thakur coming in place of Jaydev Unadkat. As expected, CSK are going in with the same squad as MSD doesn't like to tinker with his playing XI.

Here's what the two captains said at toss:

KL Rahul: "We're gonna bowl first. We just wanna know what we are chasing, that simple reason. The performances overall were really good. All parts of the game we did really well. In the field, with bat and ball so that gives us a lot of confidence. We just have to turn up again here today and want to better those performances and be in a good space and try to enjoy your cricket.

Jaydev Unadkat misses out Yash Thakur comes in. We need to assess the conditions really well. Since we are bowling first try and find what's a good length to bowl and try to get them out."

MS Dhoni: "It does mean a lot coming back home. Not to forget, IPL started in 2008 but we have not played a lot here. We have played only six seasons here. Also, the stands were closed but now those are open and it provides a great opportunity for the fans to come out and witness the game. It will be great for us to play in front of a packed crowd. We are playing with the same squad tonight. What important is to keep assessing."

Both the teams have met just one previously and LSG were victorious in that IPL game in 2022.
