The sixth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) will be played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. The last time CSK played at Chepauk was on May 7, 2019, against their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians. This will be their first game at their home ground after 1426 days.

Both teams have had a contrasting start to their IPL 2023 campaign. Chennai lost their opening game to Gujarat, while Lucknow beat Delhi in their season opener.

A knock of 92 runs from Ruturaj Gaikwad took Chennai to a first-innings total of 178 against the Titans, but they were unable to defend it as Gujarat chased down the target in 19.2 overs.

Lucknow, on the other hand, defeated the Delhi Capitals by 50 runs. A 38-ball 73 from Kyle Mayers took them to a first-innings total of 193, in reply to which Delhi mustered only 143. M Wood picked up five wickets for Lucknow.

CSK vs GT: Key Player Battles

Ruturaj Gaikwad vs Mark Wood

Ruturai Gaikwad was brilliant for CSK last year and started the 2023 season on a similar note, scoring 93 runs in 50 balls with a strike rate of 184 against the Titans. It will be interesting to see how he takes on pacer Mark Wood, who took five wickets against Delhi Capitals.

Ben Stokes vs Avesh Khan

England all-rounder Ben Stokes, who is playing as a specialist batter for CSK in the initial stage of the tournament, made a disappointing start to the season, scoring only seven runs against the Titans.

However, he can destroy the best bowling attacks on his day. How Stokes takes on Avesh Khan could be interesting to watch. The LSG pacer registered figures of 2/29 from his four overs against the Delhi Capitals. This includes the big wicket of David Warner.
