Former Australian cricketer, Michael Slater is yet again in news for all the wrong reasons. He has reportedly been charged with assaulting a police officer and was arrested on Friday midnight.

Police were called to a residence in Noosa Heads (Queensland), over domestic violence charges. As per a report in Daily Mail, Police have claimed that Slater obstructed the police and hit an officer who got a minor cut on his hand. Reports state that Slater is expected to appear before court on May 2.

“The man is expected to appear before Noosa Magistrates Court on May 2," police told AAP in a statement.

They added: “As the matter is domestic violence and medical in nature, for privacy reasons no further information will be provided."

Interestingly, this has not been the first time that Slater has been involved in a controversy. Last year, he had an altercation with a patient while he visited the Northern Beaches Hospital for his mental health treatment. Moreover, it was later stated that Slater intimidated the patient during the altercation.

The 53-year-old has represented Australia in 74 Tests and 42 ODI matches, having scored 5,312 and 987 runs respectively.
