Tilak Varma continued his great form from the 2022 IPL season and turned out to be a saviour for MI as he delivered another smashing performance taking his team to a score of 171 when they were reeling at 48-4 in the 9th over. The swashbuckling left-hander smashed 84 off just 46 balls and tonked the ball all over the park at the death as MI managed to score 48 off last 3 overs.

RCB bowlers who started well could not get their plans right at the death as Harshal Patel went for 22 runs in the final over while Siraj went for 16 in the 19th over. Overall, it was a one-man show from Tilak Varma as the rest of the batters scored only 76 runs in 75 balls with Tilak outscoring their combined effort with swag and class.

This is not the first time that Tilak Varma has shown his ability to guide the sinking ship; he did it regularly in his debut season in 2022. He was the find of last season as he scored 397 runs, getting most of his runs when the team was under the pump. Mumbai would hope that the young man continues his rich vein of form but they would need their bowlers to bowl well if they want to defend the target of 171 in their opening game at a high-scoring venue like Chinnaswamy Stadium.
