Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli has spoken candidly about his phenomenal performance against Pakistan at the 2022 T20 World Cup, admitting that he "still can't make any sense of it."  Speaking at an event by PUMA, Kohli revealed that his mind had "shut off completely" during the innings, and as a result, he had paid no heed to head coach Rahul Dravid's advice at the break and couldn't recall what he had told him.

The former Indian captain's stunning knock of 82 not out helped India to an indelible victory against their arch-rivals, but the 33-year-old was quick to admit that he had been under intense pressure during the game. Speaking about his state of mind during the innings, Kohli revealed that he was struggling to cope with the pressure of the match and his own poor form leading up to it.

"When we were 31 for 4 in the 10th over, I was really feeling the pressure," Kohli explained."I had just run out Axar Patel, and I was 12 off 25 balls or something like that. Rahul Dravid came to talk to me during the break, but I have no idea what he said. My mind had shut off completely by then," he added.

The legendary batter went on to describe how he had stopped thinking and planning during the innings and relied purely on his instincts to guide him. He said that his mind was "spinning so fast" and that he had reached a point where he believed there was no comeback from the precarious situation they were in.

However, the 34-year-old stated that his instincts took over, and he felt like something higher was guiding him. Kohli reckoned that it was a “once-in-a-lifetime experience” for him, and he learned the lesson to stop using his mind so much because it pushes him away from real magic.

"I stopped using my mind so much because it actually pushes you away from real magic," Kohli said. "What happened that night, I can never explain it, and it won't happen ever again," concluded the Indian talisman.

Kohli's performance in Melbourne will go down in Indian cricketing history as one of the greatest innings ever played. His ability to perform under pressure and let his instincts guide him was nothing short of remarkable.
