The fixture between Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders have been a cracker jack thus far, but the rain decided to play a spoilsport in the climax of the match. With just four overs to go in the chase, Shikhar Dhawan's side found themselves marginally ahead on the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern method.

In the chase of 192 runs, Kolkata were standing at 146-7, needing 46 runs off 24 balls, when the rain started to pour down. However, they are 7 runs behind on the D/L method, meaning they lost the game on the D/L method.

As per the officials, if the game had started by 7:54 PM IST, no overs would have been deducted. However, considering the state of the weather, the game has been called off, with Punjab bagging two points.

Arshdeep & co. put Punjab ahead

Left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh, who started his spell with a double-wicket over, has been the showstopper for the home team as he has struck with timely wickets.

His first breakthrough came in the form of Mandeep Singh, whom he sent on his first ball of the ball. He then got rid of Anukul Roy, who was promoted to number 3 to play the pinch-hitter's role.

However, the most crucial wicket of the lot was of the dangerous-looking Venkatesh Iyer. The KKR southpaw came in as the Impact Player, and it looked like he would take the game away from Punjab with his stand with Andre Russell.

However, after Sam Curran broke Russell with a bouncer, Arshdeep got his partner, putting the final nail in the coffin for the visitors.

Sunil Narine and Shardul Thakur both smashed a maximum each in their brief knocks, but the game was far from the two-time champions as the rain gods got biased towards the hosts.
