'The Plan is...,' Rashid Khan Reveals Strategy After Match-Winning Performance

Gujarat Titans (GT) bowling all-rounder Rashid Khan was delighted to win the player of the match award for his all-round brilliance in the first game of the IPL 2023 against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on March 31, Friday. 

In the season opener, Rashid Khan inspired his team to a close win over the four-time IPL winners. With the ball, Rashid was brilliant as always, picking two wickets in his four overs while conceding only 26 runs.

Batting at number 7, the leg-spinner proved his worth with the bat once again by scoring 10 runs off 3 balls, which includes a six and four in the all-important 19th over of the game which was bowled by CSK's main pacer Deepak Chahar.

"So happy to get this crucial Man of the Match. Will give me a lot of the energy for the rest of the competition. I try to do my best in all three formats, and give it all in the practice sessions,"


The spin wizard got the important wickets of Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes to push CSK on the backfoot after a strong start. His spell proved to be the game-changer. When asked about his plan for the two left-handed batters, Rashid said:

"The plan is hard to bowl to lefties, but the idea was to keep it tight and I knew in my mind that if I keep it simple and get two wickets, we will be back in the game. I knew if I kept it simple we will get the results."

Gujarat Titans began their title defense on a winning note by claiming a five-wicket win over the Chennai Super Kings.
