In a significant development, Pakistan's pace ace Shaheen Shah Afridi has signed with the English county Nottinghamshire for the upcoming season of the T20 Blast. Afridi is expected to be available for the entire season of the tournament. The Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club took to various social media platforms to announce the signing of Shaheen Shah Afridi, who will join Colin Munro as one of the club's two T20 overseas players.

"Notts play an aggressive brand of cricket, which suits me well. It’s definitely an exciting move for me, and I’m looking forward to it,"  said Shaheen Shah Afridi.

A left-arm pacer, who is a proven wicket-taker with the ball and a batter who can hit few lusty blows while batting in the lower middle-order, Shaheen's addition will definitely boost Nottinghamshire's chances to win the silverware.

This will be Shaheen’s third stint in the T20 Blast, having played for Middlesex and Hampshire before. The left-arm pacer will be hoping to continue his red-hot form from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 8, where he led Lahore Qalandars to their second consecutive PSL title. He did not just impress with his bowling but with his batting as well.

"He has proven himself on big stages; he is fiercely passionate in the way he plays his cricket, and he’ll be hugely engaging for everyone to watch for that reason," Nottinghamshire head coach Peter Moores said.

Last season, Nottinghamshire missed out on qualification for the knockout stages of the Blast for the first time since 2015. However, with world-class players like Alex Hales, Joe Clarke, Colin Munro, and Shaheen Shah Afridi in the squad, Nottinghamshire will aim to bounce back this season to become the English T20 champions.
