Former BCCI President and India cricketer Sourav Ganguly, who is currently the director of cricket at the Delhi Capitals, has extended his best wishes to Rishabh Pant, saying the wicketkeeper-batter is a special player and must take all the time that he needs to recover well.

Pant, who met with a car accident early this year, is undergoing rehab and recovery after surgery. In his absence, Delhi Capitals named David Warner as their skipper for IPL 2023.

"I am sure that the national team is missing him as well. He's young and he has got a lot of time left in his career," Ganguly said in a DC release. "He's a special player and he must take his time to heal properly. We wish him all the best and I'll meet him as well," Dada added.

David Warner, who was released by the Sunrisers Hyderabad, was bought by the Capitals at the mega auction which took place in 2022.

Talking about DC's new captain, Ganguly said Warner is someone who is always up for challenges.

"David Warner is looking forward to leading the side. He's always up for the challenge and he's a great player. He has got a lot of runs and experience under his belt."

Delhi Capitals will begin their IPL 2023 campaign against Lucknow Super Giants on April 1 in Lucknow.
