Jersey No.18 is synonym with Virat Kohli in the Indian side. Some believe it's just not a number, but an emotion attached with the former Indian skipper.
He has wore that Jersey for a considerable period of time (both for India and RCB), and some fans even believe that the jersey No.18 should retire when Kohli bids adieu to cricket.
However, not many fans know why No.18 is associated with Kohli. Is that because of superstition? Or is there any other reason?
Ahead of the RCB Unboxing event in Bengaluru, Virat Kohli talks about his association with the jersey and why it is so close to his heart.
Here's what Kohli said
“I never asked for number 18, when I got my first U-19 jersey, it was number 18 then when I made my India debut, it was on August 18th, unfortunately my father passed away on 18th, so it wasn’t a random number anymore, it stuck with me”.
What is RCB Unboxing event?
The franchise will honour former players Chris Gayle and Ab de Villiers, for their contribution towards the franchise.Their jersey number - 333 (Gayle) and 17 (ABD) will be retired by the team and the duo will get inducted into the RCB Hall of Fame.
