Bizarre Incident in New Zealand And Sri Lanka Match As Bails Fail to Lit Up

The New Zealand-Sri Lanka game went down in the host's favour as they dominated by a big margin to take the lead in the first match of the series. Putting up a decent total of 274, the visitors faltered for just 76 as they couldn't stand against Henry Shipley who picked up a fifer.

However, everything went in Kiwi's favour except for this one moment when Sri Lanka got a reprieve. It was the 18th over of the Lanka's innings when Blair Tickner dislodges the bail to attempt a runout while the batter is out of his crease. But the bail doesn't light up and the batter is given not out.

Chamika Karunaratne was the batter who got a life as he was walking off the moment, he saw himself out of the crease. Moreover, it was later revealed this happened due to dead batteries in the zing bails which stole a wicket from New Zealand.

Players and many of the fans got confused during the game as the rule states that if bails fail to light up then batter cannot be given out, no matter if he/she is out of their crease.

Coming back to the match, BlackCaps won by a massive margin of 198 runs through the support of Finn Allen who notched up his half-century. In return, Shipley picked up a fifer to which Sri Lanka had no answer.
