After their defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, Australia staged a remarkable comeback in the three-match ODI series against India, winning the series 2-1.

Their impressive performance helped them claim the numero uno spot in the ICC Men’s ODI rankings, dethroning India.

Notably, India was the number one team in all the three formats before Australia outclassed them in the recently concluded ODI series.

The spin bowling duo of Adam Zampa and Ashton Agar proved to be the game-changer, as the duo bamboozled India's batting line up and helped Australia secure a dominant win in the final match of the series.

India got off to a flying start in the ODI series against Australia, winning the opening match by five wickets, thanks to the brilliant performances of KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja.

However, Australia proved to be a formidable opponent and came back strong in the last two matches to clinch the series.

India suffered a crushing defeat in the second ODI as Australia bowled them out for only 117 runs in 26 overs. Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh then took charge of the chase, leading their team to a convincing 10-wicket win.

In the third ODI, Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. They managed to score 269 runs in their innings, but were bowled out in the 49th over.

India's batting unit struggled to keep up with the required run rate, with Virat Kohli being the lone batter from India’s camp to score a half-century.

India's top order showed promise, with Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, and KL Rahul all getting decent starts, but none of them were able to convert them into big scores. The team was eventually bowled out for 248 runs in 49.1 overs.

This performance of team India should serve as a wake-up call for them, especially since the 50-overs World Cup is just a few months away.

With Rishabh Pant out of the team, there are some gaps that need to be filled, and so far, Suryakumar Yadav hasn't quite stepped up in his ODI appearances for India.
