The focus of Indian players shifts to the Indian Premier League (IPL) after the completion of a jam-packed home season. However, they head into the IPL after tasting a narrow 1-2 series loss against Australia, which exposed a lot of problems for India.

Former opener Sunil Gavaskar has issued a warning to Rohit Sharma, Rahul Dravid, and others about not forgetting their shortcomings in the Australian ODI series. The Indian batters failed to muster out runs across all three matches, as only KL Rahul finished with 100+ runs.

Speaking to Star Sports, the former Indian captain said that lack of partnerships in the Chennai ODI cost the hosts the series, apart from Australia's disciplined bowling and fielding.

Here's what Gavaskar said

“It was the pressure created. They were not getting singles. The boundaries had dried up and they weren't even getting singles. When that happens then you try and play something that you are not used to. That is something they will have to look at," Gavaskar said.

"But of course, now the IPL starts. This shouldn't be forgotten. India sometimes makes the mistake of forgetting this, but this one shouldn't be because in the World Cup, we may face Australia again."

India's next international assignment will be the World Test Championship final against Australia in June.

The IPL gets underway from March 31, with defending champions Gujarat Titans taking on four-time winners Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad.
