In a topsy-turvy innings, Australia could not act decisively after opting to bat first and despite gaining a good enough start, got sidetracked as the India bowlers restricted them under 270 runs.

Hardik, Kuldeep's magic

While the opening pair of Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh continued to make merry, orchestrating a 68-run stand, Hardik Pandya soon ran into the top three as Australia suddenly found them walking on a treacherous path.

As Marsh also fell prey to Pandya after scoring run a ball 47, it marked the arrival of Marnus Labuschagne.

Labuschagne joined forces with David Warner, who was given a demotion to no.4. The duo formed a 40-run partnership. But again one brought two as both the batters fell in quick succession via Kuldeep Yadav.

Carey, Stoinis, Abbott throw starts

Alex Carey and Marcus Stoinis again initiated recovery for the visitors. Sean Abbott also contributed with a 26-run knock but like the other batters, the trio could never pick up the steam and left their side stranded.

Eventually, Steve Smith and Co. got bundled out for 269 in the 49th over.

For India, Pandya and Kuldeep claimed three scalps each, while Axar Patel and Mohammed Siraj gathered two wickets apiece.
