From being the next big thing in 2020 to finding his footing in the England side in 2023, Tom Banton has already seen his fair share of ups and downs. Banton has already been part of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Pakistan Super League (PSL), and Big Bash League (BBL) in his short career.

Post his ouster following a string of poor performances, the explosive batter looked forward to playing County cricket to prove himself worthy of a spot in the national set-up.

In Banton's absence, England have found a new sensation in Harry Brook, who has taken the world by storm since making his debut last year.

Banton, speaking to Somerset, said that he wants to replicate Brook's successful journey, and is desperate to make a comeback on the international scene.

Here's what Banton said

“If you look at the journey that Harry Brook has undergone over the last year or so, that’s something that I’d really love to replicate. I’m desperate to get back into the England team but it’s not something I think about too much. I just want to focus on the present and do as well as I can for Somerset, rather than focusing on what’s coming up in the future."

The 24-year-old further revealed that Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes have rekindled his love for Test cricket.

Interestingly, Banton's place in Somerset XI is not fixed, given the dearth of batting prowess they possess.
