South Africa's David Miller formed the crux of the Gujarat Titans' batting in their inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) last season, which the franchise ended up winning. However, due to international commitments, Miller will miss this season's opening IPL fixture for the Titans against the Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad.

Speaking ahead of the first ODI against the Netherlands, Miller revealed that the Gujarat Titans were upset about the players' unavailability for their tournament opener.

Miller amassed 481 runs in IPL 2022 after moving base from Rajasthan Royals, where he played for two years.

South Africa will play a short two-ODI series against the touring Netherlands from March 31, which, if they win, will improve their chances of direct qualification in the ICC World Cup 2023 in India.

As per cricket.com, Miller maintained that fielding a strong Proteas side was a priority for CSA.

Here's what Miller revealed

"They were really upset. It's always a big thing playing in Ahmedabad, especially in an opening game against Chennai. I am a bit disappointed to be missing that, but to put on the green and gold has always been a huge privilege and honour,

"I will be missing one game so, whether I'm somewhat disappointed or not, the process has taken place."

Other South African players who will miss the IPL bus in the initial match for their respective franchises are Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, Marco Jansen, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, Quinton de Kock, and Kagiso Rabada.
