Virat Kohli is one of the finest captains in world cricket, who is often criticised for not winning an ICC title or an IPL trophy as a leader. Kohli, who gave up the Royal Challengers Bangalore captaincy back in 2021, has revealed how he was left with no belief ahead of his final IPL outing as skipper.
The former India skipper on Wednesday met with the RCB women's team and gave them a pep talk about his ups and downs as a leader and player.
Kohli led the RCB from 2013 to 2021, taking over from Daniel Vettori and then handing over the baton to Faf du Plessis in 2022.
The Delhi-born captained the RCB franchise in 140 IPL matches, winning 64 and losing 57, with one ending in a tie.
In a video shared by RCB on their YouTube channel, Kohli went on to further dwell on times, when the star batter felt insecure and needed to save his reputation.
Here's what Kohli revealed
"The time when my captaincy tenure was coming to an end here, I was left with no belief, to be very honest. I was gone, the tank was absolutely empty. But that was my own perspective, that was me just an individual saying that I have seen so much of this, I can't just manage it, handle it anymore."
Before IPL 2021, Kohli also gave up on India's T20I captaincy and was soon dropped as ODI skipper before handing over the Test leadership as well.
Kohli will be in action in the ODI series against Australia, which commences tomorrow.
