Lahore Qalandars captain, Shaheen Afridi, had a torrid outing with the ball and was visibly perturbed on the field during the Qualifier match against Multan Sultans in the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League.
The left-arm pacer found himself embroiled in a heated exchange with the veteran Sultans batsman, Kieron Pollard, during the 19th over of the innings. The West Indian proceeded to launch the pacer for three towering sixes in the aforementioned over, which seemingly rattled the young bowler.
As he was sauntering back to his mark, Shaheen witnessed turning around and confronting Pollard, unleashing a barrage of words upon him. Here’s a look at the tussle between the two players.
Meanwhile, Pollard's blistering half-century, which comprised six maximums, four of which came against Shaheen, propelled the Sultans to a commanding total of 160/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
Shaheen, on the other hand, was unable to pick up a single wicket and was instead plundered for a mammoth 47 runs in his four-over spell. Furthermore, adding salt to Shaheen’s wounds, the Caribbean international was granted a reprieve on the speedster’s delivery in his final over, as he was put down by a Qalandars fielder.
In reply, the Lahore Qalandars never quite got going with the bat, regularly losing wickets and failing to construct any noteworthy partnerships. They were eventually bowled out for a paltry 76 runs in a mere 14.3 overs, with Sheldon Cottrell's impressive figures of 3-20 from three overs serving as a standout performance for the Sultans.
Multan's resounding victory secured them a spot in the PSL 8 final, marking their third successive appearance in the finale. Meanwhile, the defending champions still retain the possibility of advancing to the final by winning the Eliminator match, where they will square off against either Islamabad United or Peshawar Zalmi.
